Former Iranian President Served Between 2013-2005 • Coping Requires Approval of Iranian Constitution Guardian Council, Ruled by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will contest the Iranian presidential elections in 2021, the Iranian "Antihab" website reports on Saturday. Ahmadinejad, who served as Iranian president from 2013-2005, aims to be the first president of Iran's history to hold two separate terms.

In the previous elections in 2017, Ahmadinejad announced that he would run for president, but his candidacy was halted by the Iranian Constitution Guardian Council. This is a 12-member council, six of which are religious scholars appointed by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The other six members are jurists, headed by Judicial Authority Chairman Ibrahim Raisi. However, given that you are Raisi himself from Khamenei - all members of this committee are under the full influence of the supreme leader. That is, Khamenei himself probably did not want, and may not yet want to, to see Ahmadinejad in another presidential term.

In any case, by 2021 there will be a new president for Iran, as Hassan Rouhani will complete eight years in office - the maximum term for President's term in Tehran. As is the case with the Iranian tradition, the Names Exchange is at its peak. Among the possible candidates are the reformers: Iran's Vice President Ashaq Jahangiri; Tehran Mayor Muhammad Hashmi Rafsanjani; As well as MPs Ali Mutthari and Muhammad Reza Araf.

Conservative candidates include Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani; former Iranian Broadcasting Authority leaders Azatullah Zargami and Mohammed Sarafrez; former MP Mohammed Reza in Honor; and former Iranian vice presidents Gulam Hussein Alham and Mardad in Erezpere. They are Iran's Vice President and former Defense Minister Hussein Dahgan, Minister of Information and Communications Mohammed Jawad Gharumi, and Iran's Vice President Sorna Stari.
