An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the state of Malatya in eastern Turkey today.
The National Seismological Center stated that the tremor occurred at 21 06:00 local time, at a depth of 7 km and a distance of 270 km northeast of the city of Aleppo, and it was felt by the cities of northern Iraq and several Turkish cities.
Fourteen people were killed and 270 others injured in an earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale, which struck eastern Turkey on January 24, and also led to the collapse and damage of dozens of residential buildings and was felt by residents in most of the Syrian Arab Republic.
