According to the Environmental Protection Association, the visitor witnessed the incident and notified the staff of the AFCD, and then informed the staff of Fengyuan. The staff intercepted two butterfly catchers and called the police.

Director General Qiu Rongguang strongly condemned the butterfly-catching behavior and called on all visitors not to steal the butterflies in the conservation area. He pointed out that the nursery area is private land, and theft is a criminal offense. CCTV and infrared cameras are installed throughout the nursery area to monitor the environment. If necessary, the relevant information will be handed over to the police for processing.

Qiu Rongguang added that he learned that the eggs of the very rare butterfly species Chinese Byzantine Butterfly (Byasa confusa) have been removed on Hong Kong Island. It can be seen that the same type of butterfly catching event is not only in the conservation area, and appeals to the public not to take it in the wild. No person shall be allowed to possess adult birds, pupae, larvae and young birdwingers without a permit. The offender can be fined up to 100,000 yuan and imprisoned for one year.
