Crime scenes in southern Austria, shortly afterwards a death in nearby Italy. The police are investigating the relationships. A relationship act is in the room.
Villach (dpa) - After killing two women in Carinthia, Austria, a man died after being shot at police officers in a nearby Italian border town.
The man was stopped there by Italian police, opened fire and then killed himself, reported the Italian broadcaster RAI. The officials therefore did not shoot back.
Austrian investigators were on their way to Tarvisio on Saturday to clarify whether it was the suspect who allegedly killed a woman with an ax and shot another, said a Carinthian police spokesman for the dpa. "There is some evidence of a relationship act," said the spokesman.
According to the police, a 62-year-old woman was probably killed with an ax on Saturday morning. Shortly after this act in a house in Wernberg, a 56-year-old woman was shot from a vehicle on a street in the Villach area. A girl was close to the action, but was not injured.
In the afternoon, news of another violent death came, this time from Tarvisio, a border town in Italy about 30 kilometers away.
The Austrian investigators have now checked their suspicions that this man is the suspect, the spokesman said. The exact relationship between the three people was also not yet clear.
