Hublot reveals the Big Bang E, a luxury connected watch at 5,100 euros

2020-06-07T14:35:10.835Z

NEW - Without Euro 2020 to accompany with a dedicated watch, as during the last football world cup, the luxury watch brand has decided to anticipate the release of its first “real” luxury smart watch.

Even when nothing happens, Hublot always finds a way to talk about it ... The brand is omnipresent in partnerships with clubs and football championships, but the football is almost stopped. Worse still: the brand at the Big Bang, a marriage of rubber and metal on a luxury watch, was the watchmaking partner of Euro 2020. For the Football World Cup in Russia in 2018, it had presented its first model of smart watch, the Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. This summer, it was to unveil the one devoted to the Euro, with the teams and wallpapers linked to each country. We will have to wait until next year, now, to find out.

The most expensive of connected watches

Hublot has therefore revised its plans and decided to go out without waiting for its connected new product supposed to be unveiled next September: its first connected Big Bang, which incorporates all the codes of the brand's successful watch, but in a connected version. For this 42 mm diameter watch, its case is cut from materials such as black ceramic or titanium. Design of the screws and pushers, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, rubber strap with folding clasp… It is indeed a real Big Bang, but in digital version, operating under Wear OS by Google, necessarily caught up, sooner or later, by planned obsolescence irretrievably striking any connected object. This does not prevent it from being offered at € 5,100, which makes it the cheapest Hublot watch… And at the same time the most expensive of connected watches!

It is via its rotary crown with integrated push-button that the controls of its electronic module can be controlled. Here, the hour figures are produced by metallization under a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal covering an AMOLED touch screen. On this screen, in addition to a “Time Only” display, amateurs will be able to find, as on the latest TAG Heuer Connected models, digital reinterpretations of horological complications: Perpetual Calendar, second GMT time zone…

In the future, dials designed by friends of the brand will also be offered. This first edition thus includes a series of 8 dials from the imagination of art storytelling artist Marc Ferrero. Every 3 hours, the dial changes color, allowing the successive display of the eight creations on a 24-hour cycle, based on a specific color: Happy Yellow, Magic Blue, Orange Dynamite, All White, Lucky Green , Magic Red, Rainbow Spirit and Black Magic. Each full hour is marked here by the appearance of an animation lasting 5 seconds. When will a connected watch come in partnership with Scuderia Ferrari, of which Hublot has been the official timekeeper since the end of 2011? The Big Bang brand is the queen of permanent radiance, so anything is possible…
