Many mothers suffer from the problem of nosebleedness in their children, which causes them a state of confusion and panic as a result of not knowing its causes and ways of dealing with it.

Nosebleeds occur as a result of the degradation of the small blood vessels in the nasal membrane and may be symptomatic and one-off or recurrent in some children from the age of two to ten years.

Among the most prominent causes of it are trauma, bruising on the nose, or severe itching, according to pediatric and premature infants specialist, Dr. Firas Al-Numairi, in addition to the introduction of foreign bodies in the nose, chronic infections and birth defects in the nose and blood vessels.

Al-Numeiri explains to Sana the methods of avoiding frequent nosebleed by "keeping the child in a humid atmosphere and using petroleum jelly to massage the nose from the inside" as well as paying attention to his movements and saliva, indicating the need to spare the child from inserting any foreign object into his nose or tampering with him and cutting his nails constantly.

On the initial procedure to stop nosebleeds, Dr. Al-Numayri explains the necessity of making the child in a sitting position and the head in a simple bending position forward while keeping the mouth open and not lying down unless the child feels dizzy as a result of losing a large amount of blood.

In the second stage, the pressure is pressed on the nose with the index finger and thumb just below the bone part and on the cartilage part vigorously for ten to fifteen minutes without reducing the pressure even if the bleeding stops and the child continues to breathe from his mouth during that and the common mistake that most people practice is to do the pressure on the bone part From the nose instead of the herniated part.

Dr. Al-Numairi points to the necessity of providing a drink or cold water for the child because this helps stop the bleeding and get rid of the taste of blood in his mouth and encourage him to spit blood collected in his mouth to prevent swallowing what may cause nausea and vomiting and the bleeding is repeated again due to the pressure that occurs during vomiting.

And it stresses the importance of resting the child from stressful activities and activities for two hours after the bleeding has stopped and staying away from the hot bath, as the hot water vapor helps in removing the blood clot that is formed, which bleeds again, in addition to treating the accompanying conditions that lead to increased pressure on the blood vessels, such as constipation and severe coughing, and trying to avoid cleaning Nose or scattering "nose" for an hour after nosebleeds and using a sterile, moisturizing nasal gel to prevent local infection.

In the event that the bleeding does not stop, Dr. Al-Numairi is advised to see a doctor or hospital to do what is called ironing the mucous membrane with a chemical drug or a nasal decompression procedure to stop the nosebleed with sterile medical gauze or a special medical balloon left for a specific period of time and then removed.
