Health authorities in Germany reported 301 corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, 183 979 people in Germany have been shown to have contracted Sars-CoV-2, as reported by the RKI early Sunday morning (data status 07.06. 0 o'clock).
According to RKI information, 8668 people in Germany have demonstrably died from the virus, which means that the number of deaths reported increased by 22 within 24 hours. According to RKI estimates, around 169,100 people survived the infection, 300 more than a day before.
According to the latest RKI data, the number of reproductions, or R-value for short, remains below the critical mark of 1.0, namely 0.87 (data status 6.6. 0 o'clock). This means that an infected person infects fewer than one other person on average. The R value shows the infection process approximately one and a half weeks beforehand. The previous day it was 0.68.
The RKI had stated that the R-value was sensitive to short-term changes in the number of cases, such as those caused by individual outbreaks. This could lead to relatively large fluctuations, especially in the case of a smaller number of new cases.
Since mid-May, the RKI has also been issuing a so-called seven-day R. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value (data status at 6:00 am) was 0.89 (previous day: 0.83). It shows the infection from 8 to 16 days ago.
