With 11 titles, Marcelo Gallardo is the most winning coach in River's history. We review each of them, from 2014 to the present.

2014 South American Cup

The first title that Gallardo won not only meant a return to the international scene after 17 years of drought, but also the consecration of a semester that started with dazzling football by his managers. River came from being champion with Ramón Díaz and, although he lost the two-time local championship at the hands of Racing, he managed to eliminate Boca for the first time in the cycle and crowned the year winning the final to the tough Atlético Nacional de Colombia.

South American Cup 2015

River ratified its cup team character in a series against Edgardo Bauza's San Lorenzo, who had just won the Copa Libertadores the previous year. Carlos Sánchez's goals for the 1-0 victories at the Monumental and at the Nuevo Gasómetro gave shape to a new River Plate joy.

Copa Libertadores 2015

It was time for the first big trial by fire for the River del Muñeco and, after 19 years, the Millionaire was able to get the most prestigious title on the continent again. With a complicated group phase that he managed to overcome, another elimination to Boca with the incident of pepper spray included and the subsequent series against Cruzeiro, Guaraní and Tigres, in Núñez the third conquest of America was celebrated.

Suruga Bank 2015

Less than a week after winning the Libertadores, River traveled to Japan to face Gamba Osaka. The difference between the teams was noticeable and, with a 3-0 win, the champion of America prolonged the celebrations.

South American Cup Winner 2016

For the second consecutive year, the Millionaire disputed the Recopa, with the exception that this time he came as the last winner of the Libertadores and, therefore, defined the series at home. After matching 0-0 against Independiente Santa Fe in Colombia, he beat him 2-1 at the Monumental.

Argentina Cup 2016

After a weak year in the domestic competition, River had the only option to win the Argentina Cup to enter the Libertadores the following year. He did it in an unforgettable final in which he beat Rosario Central 4-3, in Córdoba, and Gallardo won the first local title since his arrival.

Argentina Cup 2017

2017 was not an easy year for River. After an enormous effort that was not enough to prevent Boca from being champion in the first semester, in the second half of the year he suffered the extremely hard elimination of the Copa Libertadores on the field of Lanús. Almost as a consolation prize, but at the same time to continue the tradition of celebrating every year, he won the Argentina Cup against Atlético Tucumán in Mendoza.

Argentina Super Cup 2018

The second official final in the history between River and Boca had a very special value and the Millionaire went very far from his best level. However, he was more effective in the Mendoza Superclásico, he had a magnificent Franco Armani on goal and, with the 2-0 victory, he celebrated a title that he had never won before. "Playing poorly all these months was part of the strategy," Gallardo quipped.

Copa Libertadores 2018

The most epic of Marcelo Gallardo's exploits as River's coach. With a path full of obstacles that he could overcome by beating Racing, Independiente and Gremio, El Millonario reached a final against Boca that would mark a before and after in the history of Argentine and South American football. After the 2-2 equality at La Bombonera and the incidents that led the rematch very far from the Monumental, the Muñeco team won 3-1 at the extension in Madrid and achieved a victory for eternity.

South American Cup Winner 2019

After the 1-0 suffered in the first leg in Curitiba, River turned the series over to Athletico Paranaense with goals from Ignacio Fernández, Lucas Pratto and Matías Suárez. The Millionaire showed a very different face in the rematch than he had seen in Brazil and Gallardo became, with 10 titles, the most winning coach in the history of the institution.

Argentina Cup 2019

The fall in Lima against Flamengo for the final of the Copa Libertadores was a hard blow for the Millionaire, but true to form, the Muñeco team quickly recovered with a title. After defeating Central Córdoba of Santiago del Estero 3-0 in Mendoza, he won the third Argentine Cup of the cycle.
