Yuan Guoyong pointed out that there are two transmission routes in Luquan Building: powerful exhaust fan and infection caused by households

The outbreak of new pneumonia in Hong Kong has been repeated. A total of 7 people have been diagnosed in Luquan Building, Liyuan Village, Shatian, and 4 of them live in unit 12 in the block. Yuan Guoyong, a member of the government expert advisory group and a lecturer professor of the Department of Microbiology of the University of Hong Kong, said on the radio program that there are currently two transmission channels in Luquan Building, including the powerful exhaust fan in the kitchen, which will draw warm air and follow the wind. Ascending, or causing the unit residents on the upper floors to be infected; and the public facilities of the building such as the door, letter box, door armrests, etc., or the residents wearing masks can also cause cross infection. He also pointed out that about 5,000 tests conducted daily by the Department of Health are not enough to cope with the epidemic, and he hopes to increase the number of tests to 7,500.

Yuan Guoyong pointed out that, on June 1, when he went to the Luquan Building in Liyuan Village, Shatian, he did not find that the building had any problems such as the "SA" U-shaped air-bent pipe, the change in the air pipes of the residents of Kangmei Building, and the effect of turbulence. No obvious defects were found in the manure and exhaust pipes. But he believes that no possibility can be ignored, referring to the powerful exhaust fan in the kitchen as a possible way of transmission. He explained that the residents of Luquan Building were worried about being peeped and stolen, and only opened the external windows. If patients with high virus content were cooking, the powerful exhaust fan would draw out warm air and rise with the wind, or cause it to rise. Unit residents on the floor are infected.

Yuan Xu pointed out that the kitchen exhaust fan failed to explain the infection cases on the floors below, so it was inferred that Luquan Building had another transmission route. He said that the public facilities of the building, such as switches, mailboxes, door rails, etc., or the use of masks by residents can also cause cross infection. He believes that the high density of buildings in Hong Kong and the small unit area are inevitable.

Target daily test volume increased to 7,500

Yuan pointed out that about 5,000 tests conducted daily by the Department of Health are not enough to cope with the epidemic. It is expected to increase the number of tests to 7,500 and find invisible patients within two to three days. He pointed out that the incubation period of new coronary pneumonia can reach 24 days, and the 14-day isolation measure can only identify 95% of patients, and 5% still have the opportunity to enter the community to become an invisible transmission chain. Therefore, he emphasized the importance of extensive testing. Only one super-spread case would put past efforts into practice.

Hebei Hospital can implement free testing

Yuan also praised the government's current process improvement, but the question is whether private doctors and patients are willing to be tested. He hopes that one day in the future, the hospital will be able to implement free testing services. The public will no longer have to spend time queuing to see doctors. The nurses will directly distribute sample bottles and go to the bathroom to collect and submit samples of deep throat saliva.
