By Vedika Sud

India reported 9,987 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

In total, India has recorded at least 266,598 covid-19 infections and 7,466 deaths, according to the health ministry.

The number of active cases in the country is 129,917 and 129,215 have been treated or discharged.

Qatar will gradually lift its coronavirus restrictions starting June 15, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Crisis Management announced Monday, QNA reported.

The first stage begins on June 15: it includes the gradual reopening of mosques with precautionary measures.

The easing of the restrictions will occur in four stages, the spokesman for Qatar's Supreme Committee for Crisis Management announced Monday, QNA reported.

The third stage begins on August 1: it allows meetings of a maximum of 40 people and flights from "low risk" countries for residents and other "priority travelers" that will be subject to two weeks of quarantine upon entering Qatar.

The final stage begins on September 1: it includes "meetings that will be allowed according to certain controls and capacity," QNA reported.

The spokesperson "stressed that the gradual lifting of restrictions does not mean the lack of application of precautionary measures, and noted that the transition from one stage to another depends on the degree of commitment of everyone to the instructions," QNA reported.

As of Monday night, Qatar had 70,158 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 57 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
