The US military has recently successfully tested the newest US nuclear bomb, B61-12, on F-15E aircraft, making it the first aircraft to carry the bomb. Two US Air Force Labs released last March A test in Nevada, the first at 1,000 feet and almost the speed of sound, and the second at around 25,000 ft. Both launches hit the target as planned.
The new bomb is expected to replace its previous versions, costing between $ 8 and $ 9 billion. It is also expected to make adjustments to F-35 jets and other NATO aircraft, including the F-16 and B-2s.
The F-15s have been in the service of the State of Israel for about twenty years, in the F-15I version. The planes were upgraded about four years ago. The security system is currently debating whether to purchase additional aircraft of this type, or to equip other F-35s.
