The weather on Monday was anything but tempting for a bathing day. Nevertheless, the first 15 swimmers stood punctually at 9 a.m. in front of the entrance to the Taufkirchener Waldbad.

Taufkirchen - These were permanent swimmers who come every year in the morning to do health sports, says lifeguard Ralf Alscher. The master of bathing operations estimates the average age of visitors at 60 years. For most of them it was also a reunion with old friends. Jutta Metzger is one of the hardworking swimmers. She was there 135 times last year. “I no longer expected the Waldbad to open this year. I really missed it, ”says the 86-year-old, who even pedaled to the outdoor pool. She swam for ten laps, then she felt too cold. Because the non-swimmer pool is currently only 24 degrees and the swimmer pool only 21 degrees. "It is good for me, afterwards I feel better and better," explains Metzger and packs warmly with a hat and an outdoor jacket for the way home.

In order to comply with all regulations during the Corona period, Alscher and his team started the precautions early on. Already at the entrance in front of the turnstile you must keep your distance and wear a protective mask. This applies not only to the entire entrance area, but also to the toilets and the kiosk.

Each bathing guest must also fill out a slip of paper - with their name, address, telephone or email. Entry and exit times are also noted. "We have to record every bathing guest by name and time," says Alscher. This note can be downloaded a, best before a visit to the bathroom on the homepage of the community.

In bad weather, like on Monday, the main entrance is sufficient for entry and exit, in good weather it only serves as an entrance. Then it goes out through the large turnstile in the children's pool area. Clearances must also be maintained in the swimming pools. In the swimmer pool, a line is always drawn at two lanes, in the non-swimmer pool the lanes are set out five meters wide. The guests adhere to the regulations and still have time to be able to ratchet up with each other even when there is more space.

The warm showers and heat cabin are locked indoors. Outside, the changing rooms and cupboards can be used at a specified distance. There are also restrictions when it comes to the slide and diving tower: Only one person is allowed to go up. A chain is attached as a barrier, which is also checked by the staff during busy periods. Volleyball, soccer and miniature golf courses are closed, as is the grill.

The number of bathers is limited, a maximum of 1164 people can be in the forest pool at the same time. Children under the age of 14 are only allowed if accompanied by an adult, the lifeguard lists further restrictions. Despite all the regulations, Alscher is pleased that he and his team got through so well. "We had prepared a lot and didn't wait until the end."
