Unity government in danger? The High Court on Tuesday announced that it will discuss the motion for quality of government and Meretz against the principle of the alternative prime minister enshrined in the coalition agreement.

Last May, a petition was filed demanding the repeal of the "prime minister's principle" as drafted in the agreement between the Likud and the blue. "The

petition said:" This is a change in the basic structure of the Israeli regime that even amounts to a "constitutional replacement" of the existing system of government in Israel. The motion calls for the amendment to the law because of "misuse" by Prime Minister Netanyahu seeking to create a new constitutional regime for protection against criminal charges, and Minister Gantz seeking to amend this constitutional-constitutional amendment for short-term political reasons stemming from a lack of confidence in Netanyahu.

In November 2021, if and when the government holds and Gantz becomes prime minister, the replacement PM will be appointed to Netanyahu, assuming he will not be disqualified from this position because of the indictments filed against him.

Recall, last month, the High Court rejected all petitions filed against the coalition agreement and Prime Minister Netanyahu's term, in enabling the establishment of the unity government. However, the High Court has already argued that it is not relevant to disqualify the clauses already at that stage because the laws have not yet Enacted. However, now that these sections have been anchored, the High Court may change its decision.
