Weather in Germany: experts warn of an extreme situation. A change in the weather is imminent in Germany. And an "unsightly side effect" is also expected.

  • The weekend was nothing - too fresh and too wet in large parts of the country, and so it goes on.
  • The weather * changes significantly at the weekend.
  • Weather experts warn of unpleasant consequences.

Weather in Germany: tropical summer with up to 30 degrees - then it crashes tremendously

Update from June 9th, 11.07am : It is rather friendly on the north on the coast on Tuesday, but the south is feeling the deep " Melina ". However, the low pressure area also covers the rest of the country on Wednesday, the German Weather Service (DWD) reports.

With extreme sunshine and steamy air, the extreme weather on Thursday is over, stresses meteorologist Paul Heger from wetter.com. 28 degrees can already be expected on Friday, the DWD experts say in the current forecast.

“A so-called high-over-low situation brings summer to the end of the week,” tweets the DWD. “Rather low air pressure prevails in southern Europe, with a high pressure area over Scandinavia. In between, warm but humid air flows to Germany, in which numerous thunderstorms form. "

" The tropical summer will bring flash floods from Friday afternoon, " warns weather expert Dominik Jung from wetter.net. In addition to the violent thunderstorms with hail and gusts of wind, according to the meteorologist, there is an " unsightly side effect ": the high winds are only weak and, due to the weather conditions, are temporarily suspended. As a result, thunderstorms hardly moved anywhere. The consequences: torrential rain and floods. Because heavy rain falls again and again from the sky in the same place.

Weather in Germany: expert warns of "dangerous situation"

Update from June 8, 9.23 a.m .: Some are lucky, others - well. In the northeast of Germany, Berlin and Brandenburg it is the friendliest to start the week. The so-called “high pressure bridge” (see update from June 7th; 6.40pm) promises a lot of sunshine from Western Pomerania to the Saarland, explains Paul Heger from wetter.com. And summarizes the current weather situation in Germany under the title "A high on the northeast".

Because in the south and east a low from Italy shovels rain clouds over the Alps. In the west, according to the German Weather Service (DWD), individual showers and short thunderstorms can be expected. The highest values: in Brandenburg up to 22 degrees, in the southeast with rain only 13 degrees. On the night of Tuesday, dense fog forms mainly in the middle of Germany and towards the northwest.

A dangerous weather situation is looming in the middle of the week, warns weather expert Dominik Jung from wetter.net. Because in the second half of the week the heat comes from Eastern Europe and slowly spreads from Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the west of Germany. Unusual, because the summer warmth usually comes from southwest Europe, explains Jung. "In terms of weather conditions, Germany is facing a very dangerous weather situation," the meteorologist feared on Monday. However, a precise weather development would only become apparent in the next few days.

Weather in Germany: mega-turn breaks ground - meteorologist: "It will be very uncomfortable"

Update from June 7, 6.40 p.m . : Well, we can tick off the weekend. In large parts of the country it was quite wet and fresh days. Let's look into the next week with meteorologist Paul Heger from wetter.com. Little by little, a significant change in the weather is looming. A “high pressure bridge” is being formed and a high pressure area over Scandinavia will redefine the weather situation in Germany. But that will take a while - the change will only become noticeable only next weekend, after the Corpus Christi holiday. But then at least in the east of Germany up to 30 degrees , in the south and west a few degrees less. The new weather can be "very unpleasant", says Heger. He speaks of an  "oppressive sultry" , possibly also the first tropical nights this year - and also violent heat storms that are possible.

This was also feared by expert Dominik Jung from wetter.net. He assumes that even up to 33 degrees could be possible next weekend - but not without consequences. The warm, humid air masses could lead to heavy showers with heavy heavy rain and gusts of wind . "Then it will be exciting!" Says the weather specialist. In any case, the storm potential will increase.

Weather: Germany faces “flash flood situation” after the drop in temperature

Update from June 7, 6.22 a.m .: Summer? Was there something? Today's Sunday feels more like autumn. Rain is on the Germany weather plan - from the coast to the Alps. There is gusty wind from the southwest on the coast. However, the weather is clearly divided into two.

During the day from Baden-Wuerttemberg to Lusatia and southeast of it rainy, in the extreme southeast of Bavaria thunderstorms are not excluded. Showers and short thunderstorms in the northwest during the day. Otherwise loosened up, especially to the northeast, also partly cloudy and mostly dry. 13 degrees in the rain, with sun support up to 22 degrees in Brandenburg.

Update from June 6, 6:00 p.m .:  "Warning of striking weather" - this warning currently applies in Bavaria to Munich and the surrounding area. The DWD explains on its homepage that strong thunderstorms and gusts of wind must be expected by 7 p.m.

Weather: Numerous DWD warnings - Germany faces “flash flood situation” after the temperature drop

Update on 6 June, 12:07: The warning map of the DWD currently offers a colorful image - which for many is anything but encouraging. A warning applies in an estimated half of the regions. The yellow level 1 concerns wind gusts and is valid until 4 or 5 p.m. depending on the location.

In some cases, level 2 also applies, which can be recognized by the orange color. The reason is storm gusts or continuous rain or a combination of both. A warning of severe thunderstorms was also partially proclaimed.

Since the warnings are too different to list them individually, it is best to use the DWD warning card to make sure which one applies to your region.

Weather: After the drop in temperature, Germany threatens "- Several DWD warnings

Our article from June 5th, 2020:

Munich - Even if it does not suit many and they would rather enjoy the sun outside, the rainy weather in Germany is good for the soil in Germany that is plagued by drought . Weather expert Dominik Jung from the Q.met weather service told the weather portal wetter.net that spring brought just under 50 percent of the long-term rainfall and was much too dry

The associated cooler air should not necessarily be. On the first weekend in June, temperatures rarely exceed 20 degrees . “Nature can still soak up a lot of rain. With a few heavy rain showers, thunderstorms and rainfalls , a lot came from the sky. There may be a little more, ”Jung explains the current situation.

Weather in Germany: Extremely humid threatens - expert warns of thunderstorms and flash floods

Next week, however, things will remain changeable in Germany, while summer rules in Eastern Europe . In Moscow even 30 degrees are expected. This warm air comes to Germany in the course of the week and meets the existing moist air mass here. According to Jung, this makes for very muggy days , with a high thunderstorm potential : “Since there would be hardly any movement in the air mass, the risk of local storms would increase, because the thunderstorms would often be very stationary and could always bring downpours on the spot . We already know this flash flood weather situation from previous years. ”

Weather in Germany: Official storm warning in Baden-Württemberg

But even before the weekend begins, it gets uncomfortable in parts of Germany . The German Weather Service warns in large parts of Baden-Württemberg of storms with up to 85 km / h on Friday, June 5th. The rest of the country is also warned of lighter gusts of wind at up to 60 km / h. Only East Germany and the East of Bavaria * are spared.
