The battle for the move to the south is heating up: More recent discussions have been held in the IDF and the Ministry of Defense regarding the IDF's move to the Negev.

Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, does not want to advance the move until a suitable transport envelope is found to provide an appropriate response to military personnel. Transition to the south. At the same time, an effort is being made in front of the finance and transport ministries to find a suitable transport solution.

According to the government's decision, a considerable number of bases were to be moved to the Negev. Some of the decisions have already been implemented, including the transfer of base air force transport from the airport sprouts, transfer Zerifin training bases and training complex in central Israel Negev Junction and more.

By design, technological units of MI should go through the intersection Lycian Negev, but as mentioned, the Chief of Staff " Kochavi, who was also the head of the military, opposes the establishment of the intelligence center at this location, as long as there is no train station to shorten the arrival to the place from the center area. Today, most of the military personnel are located in the center of the country, mainly in the Galilee base. This is a very high-quality manpower, which the IDF also finds very difficult to keep in service, and the grave concern is that moving south will enable talented permanent personnel to leave the army and apply for civilian jobs, where they Also can make a lot more money. The IDF also wants to give intelligence personnel an appropriate human resources envelope to incentivize them to move to the Negev.

Since the cost of setting up the train station is high, in the past, other ideas of moving the intelligence office to the northern Be'er Sheva area instead of the Lykit junction have been raised, in order to reduce the costs of setting up the train station.

One way or another, the IDF notes that by 2025, one third of the IDF will descend to the south of the country. In recent years, a considerable number of units have moved to the south, with the largest base being built in the training center.

A few days ago, MK Yaakov Margi, chairman of the Economic Committee, also approached Defense Minister Gantz and asked him to advance the issue. In his letter, he wrote that "hesitant" voices are being heard aimed at "canceling the government's decision" to move the IDF bases to the Negev. As mentioned, Defense Minister Gantz, who took office only a month ago, has already had a discussion on the issue, and it is estimated that progress will soon be made.
