As time goes by, everything seems to lead to a certain relaxation, where some businesses open their doors and people have more permits to move. However, the situation is not the same across the GBA . In the most deprived neighborhoods, day to day is still delicate. In the North zone, the tasks continue in San Martín, San Isidro and Vicente López . Between sheet metal and brick walls, health personnel intensify the tests despite detecting few infected.

Check-ups reach every corner of the Province and thousands of residents are checked in each one. At the moment, the trend of the results is the same , among thousands of neighbors only a few have symptoms . The number of swabs is negligible in relation to the number of controlled. However, the tasks are spread throughout the territory and are becoming increasingly relevant.

The data of each zone will be analyzed by the Buenosairean Government that, at this point, plans to make a revision stage. According to Axel Kicillof, the possibility of tightening the quarantine is even considered. For this reason, some districts, such as San Martín , are already beginning the second stage of the operations. Unlike the first, now the municipal authorities carry out the task on their own, when before they did it jointly with the Nation and the Province.

In San Martín, a second wave of controls began. This time over Ayacucho neighborhood, California, Tropezón, Costa Esperanza, May 8, Barrio 18, Barrio Curita, July 13, July 9. Photo: Rafael Mario Quinteros.

One of the first stages of the Detectar plan was already carried out in Barrio California and Costa Esperanza, where 8,600 people were interviewed , in total, and 14 swabs were performed , so far all with negative results . The team, made up of personnel from Health, Social Development and social organizations, asks questions to know the state of health, evaluate symptoms and measure the body temperature of the members of the household. In case of detecting signs compatible with Covid-19, the check is performed and these people must wait for the result in isolation . It takes between 24 and 48 hours, so the neighbor must wait at home or in the Community Care and Isolation Centers.

With the current situation, the testing plan reached, in recent weeks, four popular neighborhoods and more than 11 thousand residents of: Villa Hidalgo, La Carcova, La Rana and Villa Lanzone. Where 33 swabs were made, seven positives. In the next few days, the new controls will reach the neighborhoods of Ayacucho, Tropezón, 8 de Mayo, Barrio 18, Barrio Curita, 13 de Julio, 9 de Julio, among others.

Immediately after controlling symptoms, staff apply  influenza vaccines to pregnant women, people over 65 and risk groups who have not received the dose. In turn, as the current context aggravates living conditions in the popular neighborhoods, social assistance is provided.

The same occurs in San Isidro, the municipal authorities seek to complete the same operation. The neighborhoods covered were El Congo and Studs, in Martinez; Ombú, Covicom, Santa Rosa, and Obrero, in Villa Adelina. In the rounds, 3,781 people were monitored and only four suspected cases were detected , all negative. The tests today focus on the Santa Ana neighborhood, but next week they will arrive in Uruguay, San Cayetano and Sauce.

During the controls, the health personnel look for symptoms. The main one is checking the temperature. foto MARCELO CARROLL.

Now, the idea is to replicate what was done weeks ago, when the check-ups reached each of the houses in the La Cava neighborhood . In the first stage, 7,856 residents were monitored , of whom only six were swabbed for presenting symptoms, and five tested positive . In the second, 1,770 other people were tested and 13 suspected cases were found . This time, another criterion was used to carry out the tests. If people had even one symptom, the test was already performed.

These people were transferred, by ambulance, from their homes to the sanitary truck, where the swab was performed, and then they were taken to the Central Hospital in San Isidro. The family of these patients was isolated in their own homes with all the precautions; in each case, a social worker contacted them to do the corresponding follow-up and also attend to the needs that arise. In addition, all the swabs were fitted with the QR Code bracelet , which allows monitoring of the patient.

During the operations, six teams made up of a doctor, a nurse, a social worker, a social worker and a support staff - with cleaning products or masks - walked the corridors of the area. In turn, a disinfection team -with chlorinated water- was in charge of cleaning the corridors and fronts of the houses. Wires, dry leaves, feathers, the chemical deactivates the virus from any surface.

For his part, Mayor Gustavo Posse indicated: “We constantly monitor and attend to this area to avoid possible sources of infection. Every Thursday we do these same sanitary rounds with municipal personnel, which gives us a very precise idea of the situation in the neighborhood ”.

Although the figures are striking, Juan Viaggio, Secretary of Health of San Isidro, explains why few cases are recorded: "It is true that there are many residents living in a small space, but these numbers are also due, in part, to that the constructions of these places are horizontal, unlike what happens in Capital where the houses are on top of each other. With a vertical construction there is a greater concentration in fewer square meters. This is one of the variables that explains why there is fewer infections. "

In Vicente López they also apply this strategy. So far, more than 5,000 checkups have been made, and no neighbors with symptoms were recorded. The procedure is the same as the aforementioned, in addition, the temperature is taken for all those who are going to look for the food bags, by Social Development. In the last week, the controls were carried out in the Las Flores neighborhood. In turn, Mayor Jorge Macri assured that the tasks will continue in more deprived areas and analyze which area to continue with.

The constant tests will allow municipalities to have an 'x-ray' of the situation in the most deprived areas. In this way, they will continue with the PCR tests in all the popular neighborhoods of the GBA, with the aim of winning the fight against the pandemic.
