Music producer Martina Eisenreich has been nominated twice for the German TV Award 2020. She composed the music for the films "Time of the Wolves" and "Finally widower".

Maierklopfen - a pleasure that leaves you speechless: film music composer Martina Eisenreich is nominated for the German TV Award 2020 - and even with two ZDF productions. "I can't find any words at all," comments the artist from Maierklopfen about this top-class recognition. To be nominated for this alone is a big honor in the industry - and also with two films: the Spreewald thriller “Zeit der Wölfe” and the comedy “Endlich Witwer” with Dieter Hallervorden.

Now it is time to cross fingers for the successful composer from the district, who already received the German Film Music Award in 2016. The prestigious prizes will be awarded on Monday, June 15. Together with Eisenreich, “Best Music” has nominated Annette Focks for “Lotte am Bauhaus” and the duo Sophie Hunger / Tina Pepper for “Rampensau”.

"I would get an autograph from her"

"Annette Focks has always been a role model for me," says Eisenreich. Immediately after completing her studies, she worked as an assistant for the well-known film music composer, accompanied some of her productions and gained "great insights into working on the set". Eisenreich is also enthusiastic about the second co-nominee: “I am a real fan of Sophie Hunger. I would get an autograph from her, ”says the 39-year-old.

“Being part of this group is a huge honor,” says the Erdinger native. For "Time of the Wolves" and "Finally widower" Eisenreich is responsible for the composition and the music production. "Finally widower" is also nominated in the categories "Best TV Movie", "Best Director" (Pia Strietmann) and "Best Actor" (Joachim Król). Both films bear the signature of the versatile director Pia Strietmann.

Martina Eisenreich: composer and producer

"We worked very closely together," says Eisenreich, who, in her double role as composer and music producer, accompanied both films during the shoot and in the editing room, always in intensive coordination with the whole team. The editing was done “in parallel and assembled”. A finely intermeshed film language was created in the creative exchange and in many rounds of coordination.

For Dieter Hallervorden, who performed some songs in the comedy on the grand piano, Eisenreich also recorded the piano music, rehearsed and produced these titles for the film version with the actor. On the set, she coordinated with him and the camera team to authentically stage his piano movements.

A lot of creative freedom in production

Last but not least, “Time of the Wolves” is a dark fairy tale. “My wish was to musically tell a field of tension within two poles. On the one hand, a strong impulse for the outside: men in the forest, province, abandonment. The lust for overgrown existence. A man's pose: dry, bizarre, modern. On the other hand, a deep feeling for the inside: poetry. Painful, bright, classic - a morality. "

It was a delightful experience for the music producer from the district to work "in a team with all these brilliant people" and to have a lot of creative freedom. For these two film scores, she also selected musicians from her stage ensembles: guitarist Christoph Müller-Bombart and percussionist Wolfgang Lohmeier, with whom Eisenreich is married.

Composing film music: "That was already my childhood dream"

Artistically and privately, the couple is a well-coordinated team to get the spirited family with the three sons Ferdinand (7), Leo (5) and Emil (1) as well as the exciting and challenging profession under one roof. "I love this job, it was my childhood dream," says Eisenreich about her work as a film music composer.

The fact that the path as a violinist led her to the stage was a happy coincidence for her. She also wrote the film music for the anniversary crime scene from Munich, directed by Strietmann. After the filming had to be paused due to the Corona crisis, this production will continue in mid-June. After the summer break, you can look forward to this thriller, which celebrates 50 years of the crime scene.
