The maternity center remains closed until September 7th. The implementation of the Corona requirements is not possible.

Geretsried - The Mothers Center (MüZe) remains closed until the end of the summer vacation. "The supervision key that applies to us, the necessary minimum distance, the permitted group size and above all the spatial situation are mutually exclusive and do not allow any other decision," explains association chairman Andrea Schimpf.

She still remembers the last day in MüZe. “It was March 13th, a Friday. After the pre-kindergarten group, we closed everything, ”she says. She would not have thought that the club could not open for six months. "It's a shame. The MüZe is an important meeting point for many families, ”said Schimpf. Now all you have to do is hope that it will continue on Tuesday, September 8th. "We use the time to develop hygiene concepts for all areas." Schimpf expects a gradual opening.

The MüZe would have planned a lot this year. The members wanted to celebrate MüZe's 30th birthday at a big summer party. As a meeting place not only for mothers, but also for fathers, parents and families, the association was looking for a new name for the facility. "63 suggestions were received," reports Schimpf. The winner has been selected, but remains secret for the time being. The chairwoman only reveals so much: "The name fits very well, everyone knows what it means." The birthday summer party should be rescheduled next year.

The family flea market planned for mid-September has been postponed to next spring. The popular summer vacation program is canceled. That too, says Schimpf, “is a real shame. Many children have been looking forward to it. ”But the association sees no other possibility. For the facility, different requirements would apply than for daycare centers, and the rooms were too small for a corresponding company. "We can forget that."

At least financially there are no big worries. The MüZe team works on a voluntary basis, and the association uses the former caretaker's apartment on Adalbert-Stifter-Strasse without renting it. In order to be able to cover the running ancillary costs, the association could probably apply for a grant.

This year the MüZe actually wanted to rebuild it. The club could have used the closing time well, says Schimpf. But "unfortunately the corona pandemic is delaying planning". As reported, the city has provided 200,000 euros in the household to renovate the mother center and to be able to add a play café to the garden.  sw
