Police in the Central District are investigating a case revealed last Wednesday about two Maccabi Tel Aviv footballers who allegedly had sex with minors. 

The issue in question was first reported yesterday in News 13, and sparked a stir in the Israeli sports world. Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club officially commented today on the report: "The club is aware of media publications and is monitoring developments. At this point, we will not respond beyond this response."

Earlier, it was reported that, according to sources in the story, the school where underage students contacted the club's management and reported the case to them. 

An acquaintance of the two girls allegedly involved in the affair today told Israel Today that "an investigation needs to be opened. We want to know if they went there voluntarily or lured them to get there."

A player on the team claimed that the case in question took place about a month and a half ago and that both players are holding a screenshot of correspondence with the young women who allegedly lied about their age. According to the players, the two presented them with fake IDs, according to which they are 19. The photographs of the IDs in question were handed over to their lawyer.

The two footballers came to coach the team today and Adv. Adi Carmeli, who began to represent the pair of players, told Israel Today: "The two footballers did not commit any offense. We have unequivocal evidence to prove their version, which we will present to the police in due course. "
