Traoré case: the "Truth for Adama" committee wants to file several defamation complaints

2020-06-11T20:32:08.486Z

The collective targets members of RN Marine Le Pen and Julien Odoul as well as journalists Jean-Jacques Bourdin and Nicolas Poincaré.

Since the beginning of June, the Traoré affair, named after this young man who died in Val-d'Oise on July 19, 2016, almost two hours after his arrest by three gendarmes, has resurfaced on the scene. . In parallel with the investigation aimed at clarifying the circumstances of the young man's death, and three days before the demonstration scheduled for Saturday in Place de la République, the "Truth for Adama" committee has decided to embark on a new front judicial.

Wednesday, June 10, the collective founded by Adama Traore's sister, Assa Traore, announced on her Facebook page her intention to file a complaint against several personalities following comments deemed " intolerable" . This includes RMC journalists Jean-Jacques Bourdin and Nicolas Poincaré, as well as the president of the National Rally (RN) Marine Le Pen and the RN Burgundy-Franche-Comté regional advisor Julien Odoul.

Beyond this announcement effect, the complaints do not yet seem to have been filed. Interested parties therefore remain cautious on the subject, which comes in an explosive context. “I am waiting very calmly for news. As long as I have not received a judicial summons, for me this complaint does not exist ” , declares Me David Dassa-Le Deist, who defends Marine Le Pen. Me Yassine Bouzrou, lawyer for the Traoré family, did not respond to requests from Le Figaro .

In question, the morning of June 10 from RMC

The collective "The Truth for Adama" obviously did not appreciate the morning show of RMC on Wednesday June 10. This morning, at 7.52 a.m., Jean-Jacques Bourdin introduced a subject on the Traoré family. "There is a job if you want us to go around the criminal records of this large family , " bounces the journalist Nicolas Poincaré, before detailing the cases in which are or have been involved several members of the siblings.

Camp Traore accuses journalists of having, during this enumeration, "accused Assa Traoré of having exerted pressure on a victim so that she withdraws her complaint " and "attributed acts of rape to Adama Traoré" . The brother and sister "were never prosecuted for these acts," said the press release. Contacted by Le Figaro , Jean-Jacques Bourdin and Nicolas Poincaré did not wish to comment. "They've only done their job, all the others want is for us to talk about them," indignant a media regular.

"An intimidation strategy"

The committee also wants to attack Julien Odoul for "insults", "defamation" and "provocation to hatred and violence against people because of their origin". The current RN candidate for mayor of Sens (Yonne) would have "qualified the Traoré family as a gang and family of delinquents and justified the death of Adama by saying that he was a scum". "I recalled the strict truth: it is a family with heavy legal liabilities," reacts the thirty-something. "As for incitement to hatred, it is in the demonstrations organized by this collective that I see it!"

Finally, the relatives of the deceased young man plan to file a complaint for "defamation" against "the racist Marine Le Pen" for "qualifying the Traore family as a gang and saying that we are all serious offenders". Refusing to address the substance of the case, Me Dassa-Le Deist said at the outset that he "reserves the right to file a complaint against the use of the infamous term '' racist '' which is attached to Marine Le Pen" .

The RN president's counsel then deplores: “It is flipping through this case every day from the side of the civil parties. This cascade of complaints is part of an intimidation strategy aimed at muzzling the freedom of expression of anyone who does not have the time to please those concerned . And to conclude: "If they think that with these procedures they will intimidate Marine Le Pen, they have knocked on the wrong door!"

"I don't do an ag-prop like the Traores"

The authors of the statement slip in passing that Marine Le Pen has "the same lawyer as one of the gendarmes" placed under the status of assisted witnesses in the investigation into the death of Adama Traoré. In fact, Me Rodolphe Bosselut is indeed the lawyer of two gendarmes concerned by this case, as well as the counsel of Marine Le Pen in the file of the parliamentary assistants of the National front in the European Parliament.

But he does not intervene in press law for the RN and will not represent the fifties if it is attacked in defamation, he wishes to specify. “I defend my clients in a different and distinct way. The file of parliamentary assistants has nothing to do with the Traoré affair , reacts Me Bosselut. "I do law. I don't do politics or prop-prop like the Traorers. This sentence of the press release obviously aims to try to create an amalgam, and people fall into their trap. It is appalling. ”
