The WhatsApp message flew late on Thursday. "Schedule, look, it seems to me that it is not working" said the text that Alberto Fernández sent to the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.

What "is not official" is the flexibility of the opening in the Capital, which has its most discussed postcard with the departure, in droves, of the runners, after the authorization of the night running that authorized the city.

"We are analyzing it," Larreta responded in what translated as an admission that the situation is spiraling out of control right into the worst of the pandemic.

Another national record was released on Thursday: 1,386 confirmed cases , with more than 550 in CABA and a fearsome escalation in the Province, where 756 confirmed cases were registered.

The president also spoke with Axel Kicillof, the Buenos Aires governor, who for weeks expressed his concern about the negative impact of making the quarantine more flexible.

Kicillof said Thursday night that the only way to keep the number of cases from rising is to "return to stricter isolation."

After a day focused on the Vicentin case, on the edge of Thursday, Fernández got into the subject that haunted him almost 100 days ago: the coronavirus.

The report with the new record of positives, 1,386, was released during Fernández's meeting with Sergio Nardelli and Omar Perotti in Olivos.

Fernández told his team that this Friday, after "getting Vicentin's question back on track," he will begin to analyze this week's case curve in detail and assess whether any action is necessary.

A week ago, the president announced the extension of the quarantine until June 28 at a conference with Larreta and Kicillof. It was a longer period than usual, 21 days, and with permanence in phase 3 but some openings.

However, he stated that if the outlook worsens, measures could be taken to go backwards with the openings and exceptions. Larreta already did it once : when there was an escalation of cases after the opening of shops throughout the Capital, including shopping centers.

On Wednesday, the president sent a message: "If it were for the increase in cases, we should return to strict quarantine , " he said in radical statements.

It was a warning. The president invoked the reading of the infectologists about what should be done according to the duplication to say what he fears: that it is necessary to arrange a hardening.

In parallel, other elements appear: in Casa Rosada they maintain that despite the increase in cases, the health system is still at ease to meet the demand for an eventual outbreak.

For now, the government says that you should not be guided by the data for a single day because "they can be misleading", since they sometimes reflect data from studies that have been accumulated over several days.

You have to look at the series, they point out, to be certain of the curve. An example: on Thursday there were 1386, on Wednesday 1226 and on Tuesday 1141 but on Monday there had been 826, while Saturday and Sunday were above 900.

If consolidated above 1,300, the number of cases will have increased by more than 30%. The focus had a major escalation in the province of Buenos Aires, which a week ago was around 400 cases and on Thursday it had 756.

The other element that they put on the table in Olivos is "that the tests increased" and, in addition, the "procedures were perfected" to carry out the studies. In Creole: there are more cases but prevention works well to react quickly to any alert.
