A rocker attack on the open street in Munich makes headlines. The background to this is probably a current trial at the Munich Regional Court I. This is about attempted murder.

Munich (dpa) - A dark transporter drives towards a man lying on the ground, five men then attack him and his companions, seriously injuring him - and disappear.

The attack, presumably committed by a rocker gang, makes headlines in tranquil Munich, which is not necessarily known for open rock wars.

The attacking group, according to the Munich media, is supposed to be a division of the "Hells Angels" and the 45-year-old, whom the men attacked, a man with connections to the bouncer scene and to the competing rocker band "Black Jackets".

Police confirm that the investigation is focused on the rocker milieu, the Organized Crime Department is investigating. At least three of the five attackers currently known to be known by name.

Five initially arrested men have now been released, says the spokesman for the Munich police headquarters, Marcus da Gloria Martins, on Friday. According to him, there were searches in five houses in the state capital.

"We have specific suspects we are looking for," he says two days after the crime. He cannot say exactly what the suspects are accused of and whether an attempted homicide is among the allegations. "There are several offenses in the room," including dangerous bodily harm and dangerous interference in road traffic.

On Wednesday, the hitherto unidentified perpetrators attacked the 45-year-old on the open road near Munich's North Cemetery - among other things with a stabbing weapon that was initially not identified.

When two acquaintances wanted to come to his aid, a black van approached, drove into the group and to the 45-year-old lying on the ground and touched and injured at least one of the three men. Afterwards, the inmates got out and - together with the perpetrators who had previously attacked the 45-year-old - attacked the group.

The three men under attack came to the hospital, but are no longer there, as Gloria Martins says. At least one of them fired herself.

The Bavarian constitutional protection report 2019 said about rocker crime: "In general, the situation in Bavaria and predominantly also in the federal territory is currently rather quiet." The rocker bands were "tactically motivated rather reserved".

The current case is mainly due to a dispute in court, as the Munich media write. The lawsuit against a man from the "Hells Angels" community has been running at the Munich I Regional Court since November 2019. He is charged with attempted murder - the man who was also victim of the auto attack on Wednesday and his brother. The accused is said to have rammed a knife into the brothers' faces in a club in Munich during an event entitled "Istanbul Night" in 2015.

In this process, the 45-year-old, who was attacked again on Wednesday, appears as a co-plaintiff. According to media reports, he provoked the "Hells Angels", there violently again and again. In turn, the "Hells Angels" arrive in such large numbers at almost every trial date that the court has to request reinforcements from the police every time.
