Emmanuel Macron will travel to London next Thursday where he will be welcomed by Prince Charles and his wife Camilla to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the call of June 18, 1940 launched by General Charles de Gaulle.

This ceremony will allow the United Kingdom and France to testify to the closeness of their ties at a time when the discussions on Brexit between London and the European Union are not making much headway. A press release from their services specifies that Charles and Camilla will officially receive the French president at their London residence at Clarence House.
On the evening of June 18, 1940, on the BBC, General de Gaulle launched the first call to resistance, inviting the French not to lose hope and to continue the fight alongside their allies. He had been greeted the day before by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and installed at number 6 of Seymour Place, near Hyde Park.
