" I have trouble finding a single important decision by Trump, during my tenure, that was not guided by a calculation for re-election, " wrote in his memoirs to be released on June 23, the man who held this strategic position in the White House for 519 days, from April 2018 to September 2019.

According to its editor Simon & Schuster, who published this short extract in a press release on Friday, " Bolton speaks on multiple subjects: chaos in the White House, of course, but also the main protagonists, the decision-making process incoherent and disjointed of the president, and his behavior with the allies as with the enemies, from China to Russia via Ukraine, North Korea, Iran, the United Kingdom, France and Germany "

The House of Representatives erred

" What Bolton saw stunned him: a president for whom re-election is the only thing that matters, even if it means endangering or weakening the nation, " added the editor. He pointed out that, in the eyes of the former adviser, the House of Representatives dominated by the Democrats made a mistake in examining the file in dismissal of the republican billionaire only around the Ukrainian affair.

The President of the United States had been indicted for “ abuse of power ”, for having conditioned military aid to Ukraine on the announcement by Kiev of investigations into his future Democratic adversary in the November election , Joe Biden. But the Senate, controlled by the Republicans, finally acquitted him at the start of the year.

" Trump's transgressions like the Ukraine one exist in all of his foreign policy records, and Bolton details them, as well as his and other government attempts to ring the bell alarm ”, explains Simon & Schuster.

The book, " The Room Where It Happened, A White House Memoir, " had already burst into American political life when extracts were leaked to the press in January during the midst of a dismissal trial. The White House then launched a legal offensive to prevent John Bolton from publishing certain passages.
