The premiere of the first drive-in cinema on Lake Tegernsee took place on Thursday with 26 vehicles on the roof of the casino parking garage. In the end, visitors and operators were thrilled.

Bad Wiessee - no stress, no crowds at the box office. Anyone who climbed the floors through the car park of the Bad Wiessee casino on Thursday from 8.30 p.m. was greeted warmly on parking deck 9 for a ticket check. The tickets were previously available online from cinema operator Carmen Obermüller for 10 euros per person in the vehicle or 17 euros for a person with a child in a car.

"You can receive the sound of the film on the frequency 99.0 of your radio," said the young man in a safety vest and sent the premiere guests up one floor. Here, two ushers waved the vehicles, which according to the license plate came from the districts of Miesbach, Tölz, Munich, Salzburg and also from other federal states, with the help of glow sticks: the smaller, flatter cars close to the almost 50-square-meter screen, behind the stately cars like SUVs and family vans and the minibuses all the way to the rear.

The film does not start until complete darkness falls

You could see the animated film Pets 2 - and it invited you to go to the cinema with the whole family. So there were children in almost every car - sometimes quite excited, after all, for most of them it was their first visit to a drive-in cinema. Many had stocked up with popcorn, nachos, sweets and drinks from the two snack stands, which the organizer Obermüller had simply moved from the cinema bar in Weissach to the open space high above Lake Tegernsee. Some tots even had their pajamas on. "Then it goes to bed faster afterwards," explained a mother from Schliersee. Because the film start at 9:30 p.m. was quite late for the little visitors, even during the holiday season.

As in all open-air and drive-in events, the late start of the film is due to the onset of darkness. At the presentation in Bad Wiessee, the still image "Kino am Tegernsee" had not cleared out on the screen until around 9:30 p.m. Until then, visitors could enjoy the view of the casino's glass roof architecture and the surrounding mountains. The gentle evening glow caught both of them and immersed the “cinema hall” in a unique atmosphere.

The usual corona regulations also apply in the drive-in cinema

When the film could finally start after the advertisement, Carmen Obermüller and her team of five had already covered the headlights and taillights of those cars with magnetic tarpaulins whose lights could not be switched off. This ensured an excellent look.

In the end, not only the visitors were more than satisfied with the special kind of cinema evening. Obermüller was also happy: “People are relaxed and enjoy it. I only had to point out once that the corona rules also apply here. ”Otherwise, Obermüller would not have received the permit. In the drive-in cinema, vehicles may only be left with a mask and only for the toilet. Nevertheless, the valley only seems to have been waiting for the new cinema format. "The ticket sales for the other performances are going great," says Obermüller.
