In the last weeks and mainly in the one that concludes this Friday, many municipalities of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area have intensified the massive controls of coronaviruses, with door-to-door symptom checkups -mainly in popular towns and neighborhoods- and swabbed people with symptoms compatible with Covid -19.
The virus is already looking, more than anything, "indoors", and this is related to statistics. Of the more than 10 thousand positives accumulated until this Friday in the first two ranges of Greater Buenos Aires, 60.1% are "community" cases.
This means that six out of ten infected were infected locally , without having been abroad or registering any contact with someone who had traveled.

In contrast, those infected who were in other countries or in close contact with a traveler are now 26.5%.
Exactly two months earlier, on April 12, the ratio was the reverse. On that date, the Covid-19 Situation Room of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health had 54.4% of “imported” or close contact infections, and only 27.9% of community infections.

The rest of the infected, which the statistic does not include in any of these categories, are health workers. Against what could perhaps be assumed, today they represent a lower percentage within the universe of infections of the Conurbano (13.4%) than a month ago, when they were 20.8%, or two months ago, the date on which they reached a 17.7%.
As for the evolution of the number of cases in Greater Buenos Aires, in 26 municipalities of the Conurbano there are until the last official report 9,576 infected, 35% of which are registered throughout the country (27,373 cases) . The highly populated La Matanza continues as the district with the most positives, although when taking the data in relation to the number of inhabitants, it is well below many GBA districts.
After a sustained growth in the last week, the accumulated cases in the largest municipality in the country are 1,420, with 34 deaths (two were reported on Wednesday and five on Thursday). Of that total, there are 225 neighbors who have already recovered and were discharged.

The other municipalities with the largest presence of Covid-19 are concentrated in the South zone. Quilmes, with 1,068 positives , is the second area of the conurbano that surpasses the barrier of a thousand cases. The positive fact is that the case fatality rate is very low there: 11 fatalities count over that total, a low record compared to other communes, especially in the western zone. The number of recovered patients is 197.
In the third place is the neighboring Avellaneda , bordering Capital, where 752 infected are registered : 16 died and 100 have already recovered.
The list of the five parties with the most infections is completed following the axis of Hipólito Yrigoyen avenue (ex Pavón). Lanús, with 544 positives , 70 recovered and 4 dead that mark a very low case fatality, is in fourth place; while Lomas de Zamora closes with 517 cases , among which is that of Mayor Martín Insaurralde , who shortly after noon on Friday reported on Twitter that a Covid-19 swab tested positive. In his district there are 11 deceased and 58 recovered patients.
When the contagions are analyzed in relation to the inhabitants of each district, two municipalities in the North zone are included in the list of the most affected. San Martín (115 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and Escobar (103); they appear in fourth and fifth place; below Avellaneda (211), Quilmes (160.65) and Lanús (117.54) .
La Matanza, which with more than 2.3 million inhabitants according to Indec projections, disappears from the table, registering 62.25 cases per 100,000 residents.

As well as the lethality is low in most of the southern districts; in some territories in the western zone the opposite is true. There, the ranking places Merlo (384 infected and 22 dead), Tres de Febrero (333 and 16), Moreno (306 and 12) and Morón (241 and 12) behind La Matanza. The small municipality of Ituzaingó, of the few that remain below 100 cases (96) with a relatively high case fatality: 7 fatalities. Another district in a similar situation is José C. Paz, in the northwest, with 131 positives and 11 deaths.
In the North zone, among those with the most positives appear, in addition to San Martín, the municipality of Tigre (298 and 11), where there is concern about the emergence of a focus in the San Jorge neighborhood, a neglected area of the town of Don Torcuato. Escobar (263 and 10), San Isidro (258 and 11) and Pilar (233 and 7) follow.
