Iran rejected the report of the United Nations Secretariat on the bombing of Saudi oil facilities last year, which it claimed were carried out with "Iranian weapons."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today that "the allegations of the United Nations Secretariat regarding the bombing of Saudi oil facilities with Iranian weapons came under American and Saudi pressure ... and that the Iranian Foreign Ministry expresses Tehran's deep concern about the use of the United Nations Secretariat as a tool to pass political goals."

The ministry pointed out that the report of the UN General Secretariat comes in conjunction with the presentation by the United States of a draft resolution in the UN Security Council to extend the arms embargo on Iran, noting that this synchronization enhances the possibility that its issuance came as a US recommendation to support its efforts against Iran in the Security Council.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that the report will not change the fact that what the region is experiencing is the result of American and Saudi policies in it and does not serve the interests of the region's security and stability and the application of international decisions, stressing that the report is a pre-prepared American scenario to extend the arms embargo on Iran.

In turn, the Iranian representation in the United Nations Organization refuted what was stated in the report of the organization's secretariat on the source of the weapons used in the attacks against Saudi Arabia.

The Representative said in her report: "There are, unfortunately, serious problems, inaccuracies and contradictions in the report of the United Nations Secretariat on the implementation of Resolution 2231 of the United Nations Security Council on the so-called Iran's relationship with arms exports or parts that were used in the attack on Saudi Arabia."

The Representative added that “the UN Secretariat lacks the capacity, specialization and knowledge necessary to conduct such a complex and sensitive investigation and that some of the weapons seized that have been investigated have not been proven to be manufactured in Iran,” noting that the organization’s General Secretariat’s report based its findings based on US allegations.
