The male patient was placed in a quarantine center on June 4, but developed fever on the same day and was sent to the Prince of Wales Hospital for testing. His nasopharyngeal swab samples, deep throat saliva samples and stool samples were negative for the virus. The patient continued to have fever and pneumonia, and underwent bronchoscopy yesterday (12th). A bronchial secretion sample taken during the period confirmed a positive reaction.
The CHP stated that the newly confirmed case today is a 33-year-old male patient with good health in the past, which is the 1110th case. He lives in Unit 810, Luquan Building, Liyuan Village, Shatian, on the same floor and adjacent to the unit of the 34-year-old female patient in the 1084th case diagnosed on May 31.
The Department of Health took prudent infection control measures on June 4 and evacuated 10 and 12 units on each floor of Luquan Building who had no symptoms. The patient was also placed in a quarantine center on the same day, but had a fever and was sent to Will on the same day. Prince of Sri Lanka Hospital was tested. Nasopharyngeal swab samples, deep throat saliva samples, and stool samples taken during the patient's hospitalization were negative for the virus. The patient underwent bronchoscopy yesterday due to persistent fever and pneumonia. The bronchial secretion samples taken during this period confirmed a positive reaction. The patient is now in stable condition.

According to the preliminary epidemiological survey of the CHP, the patient is close to the family group of 1084 cases and has the opportunity to be infected through environmental factors. Therefore, this case is classified as a local case. The medical investigation is still ongoing. In addition, relevant government departments and experts have been actively following up the environmental factors of units 10 and 12 in Luquan Building.
