The company "ASTO Group" on Friedrichshafener Strasse in Gilching was a pioneer in the western district in terms of a compatible rental bike system with charging stations. The municipality of Gilching and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen also rowed in the boat. "It was a really good thing, which was organized and looked after by the company, Nextbike", said "ASTO" managing director Bernd Schulte-Middelich on request. “Our employees made good use of the offer. This enabled them to switch from the S-Bahn to the bicycle and cycle the remaining kilometers. In the meantime, the district of Starnberg, in cooperation with the state capital of Munich, has taken up the issue and launched a compatible rental bike system again. In the most recent meeting, the municipal council in Gilching has now decided to participate. "With the establishment of the district stations, the cooperation partners do not pursue any economic objectives," said Gilching's construction manager Max Huber at the council meeting. "Rather, the urban mobility concept is to become more attractive as a result of the expansion of the MVGRad system to the district as a whole, and incentives to switch commuters from motorized private transport to public transport or to bicycles are to be created." "We will be there again immediately," says Schulte-Middelich, who is happy about the new start. Huber estimates the cost of Gilching to be between 30,000 and 50,000 euros. According to the district's plan, the municipality is responsible for the plot and foundation of a station. A station consists of a stele and a bicycle stand, the district wants to pay heavily for the construction. Max Huber: "We very much hope that other traders will join and that we can tackle the project together in terms of reducing CO2 emissions and solving existing traffic problems."
