The Damascus Governorate announced that parking and parking will be prohibited within specific times and axes in the Old City of Damascus on Friday and Saturday of each week for a month.
The ban will be applied from next Friday, starting from nine in the morning until nine in the evening, according to the director of the old city of Damascus in the province, Engineer Mazen Farzali, in a statement to the delegate of Sana today, indicating that the prevention of parking and parking of tourist cars and trucks will be on the road to Medhat Pasha - straight street - And the way of Bab Toma Al Qishleh and Al-Amin Street.
Farzali explained that preventing the parking and stopping of cars comes to complement the effectiveness of "Old Damascus without cars" that was held on the fourteenth of last December and aims to activate the old Damascus project free of cars according to stages, stressing that the project aims to preserve the urban, environmental and social fabric in the old city And to organize traffic in it, due to its archaeological and historical specificity, and its residents and visitors to get used to not entering cars.
Farzali said that free parking will be provided for residents of Old Damascus who bear the duties of entering their cars to the city during the ban period, in both the Soufania garage and Al-Amin Street.
The Damascus Governorate organized on the 14th of last December the "Old Damascus without Cars" event that started from ten in the morning and continued until six in the evening, which included various social, artistic, cultural and recreational activities in tourist sites, planting jasmine in several places and securing "Baxi" bikes and electric cars To move citizens inside the city.
