US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will meet with 27 EU foreign ministers and EU Foreign Minister Joseph Borel • The parties will also discuss tensions in Turkey

A highly tense virtual meeting is scheduled for Monday (Monday) between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his EU colleagues.

Pompeo will try to persuade the 27 EU foreign ministers and EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs Joseph Burrell through a conference call to back the US government in a confrontation with China and the International Criminal Court in The Hague - two issues that are at the top of Washington's international agenda.

Europeans, for their part, will make it clear to Pompeo their total opposition to Israel's plan to apply sovereignty over territories in the Jordan Valley, Judea and Samaria in coordination with the Americans. The European Union, which quickly expressed its reservations about President Trump's peace plan, will alert the Secretary of State of the expected regional implications of applying Israeli sovereignty and seek to ascertain what kind of backing the government intends to grant to Israel.

Also, most Union companies are calling on Americans to join in sanctions on the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Pompeo warned over the weekend that the rest of the United States' allies, especially NATO companies, might sooner or later be sued by the tribunal.

Europeans are concerned about the United States' intention to withdraw 9,500 troops stationed on German soil, in response to Germany not increasing its defense spending as required by agreements between NATO companies. Removing these forces and exiting the US from a series of military agreements with Russia increases the Europeans' fear of Russian aggression measures against the EU's eastern companies, at a time when the EU is not militarily addressing such a threat.

Another issue the Europeans are seeking to raise is the growing tension with Turkey, NATO society, Libya and Cyprus.
