The World Health Organization announced that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Africa exceeded 230,000, while the number of deaths exceeded 6 thousand cases.
"A total of 230,454 confirmed cases of the virus have been diagnosed in Africa, while 6,218 people have died, while more than 106,000 people have recovered since the outbreak," Russia Today quoted the organization as saying in a statement.
The organization added that most of the HIV infections were recorded in South Africa 65736, while the death rate in it reached 1423, followed by Egypt with 41,303 cases, while the number of deaths in it reached 1422 cases, while in Algeria 760 deaths were recorded, while in Nigeria the number of infections reached 15,181.
The World Health Organization has previously warned of an acceleration of the epidemic in some regions of the African continent and called for the imposition of strong measures in the current outbreaks such as South Africa, Algeria and Cameroon.
