A new earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the province of Bingol in eastern Turkey today, without reports of injuries or damage.
"The earthquake hit the Karlova district in the province and it was at a depth of 7.10 km below the surface of the earth," Avad said, according to the Turkish Anatolia News Agency.
A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck the same area yesterday, killing a security guard whose body was found under the rubble in the village of Kaynar Pinar, in addition to injuring a number of people. The tremor also caused material damage in the place.
It is noteworthy that the Bingol province in eastern Turkey is surrounded by mountains and many ice lakes.
