98% of employers' SMEs received Wage Subsidies

According to the government, the first phase of the "employment protection plan" was closed last night (14th). A total of 168,799 employers and 259,860 self-employed people received applications. Currently, the first batch of 25,500 employers has received wage subsidies, totaling about 4.8 billion Yuan, estimated to benefit more than 200,000 employees. Among the employers who received wage subsidies, 98% of the SMEs and micro-enterprises that hired less than 50 employees accounted for; while employers had promised that they would not lay off employees during the period of application (that is, from June to August) when applying, all subsidies will be used for Pay employee compensation.

The government has also distributed a one-off grant of 7,500 yuan to the first batch of 24,000 self-employed persons, for a total of about 180 million yuan, and said it is seeking to start the second batch of subsidies and one-off grant within this week.

Prompt applicants with discrepancies to respond within a specified period

The government reminds that the MPF registration information provided by some applicants, including the MPF scheme name, MPF scheme registration, and participation number, does not match the relevant records of the MPF trustee. After receiving the e-mail notification, the applicant must reply within a specified period in order to review the application.

The government also pointed out that a large number of individuals who apply for "employment protection" as individuals are not eligible. Since the self-employed MPF account must be opened on or before March 31 this year, it has not been cancelled on that day. Applicants who apply for subsidies as MPF accounts opened as employees (including former employees) are not eligible for self-employed subsidies.
