The security forces of the Turkish regime arrested today dozens of members of the Turkish People's Party with the aim of preventing a demonstration that was scheduled to be launched in Istanbul, Izmir, Edirne, Hakkari, Izmit and Manisa, in opposition to the policies of the regime's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and demanding the release of political detainees.
The Turkish regime forces also interfered and prevented a press conference for the co-presidents of the party, Parveen Boldan and Medhat Sinjar, in the Silivri suburb of Istanbul, which has the largest prison where journalists, intellectuals and politicians are opposed to Erdogan, and stormed the party's headquarters in Istanbul, Edirne, Izmit, Manisa, Hakkari, Bursa, Tekirdag, Caraclar, Karaclar, Alacar
Sinjar said after leaving Istanbul, "Whatever obstacles, challenges and threats, we will continue our struggle for democracy, and whatever Erdogan and those with him do to obstruct the march of peace and democracy, it has become clear that their days are numbered."
For his part, said Parveen Boldan from the city of Edirne, "Erdogan's regime has proven to the world that it is tyranny and a dictatorship that does not respect the most basic standards of democracy and human rights, and in the forefront of that expression of opinion in a peaceful manner."
The demonstrations were scheduled to start today from Edirne in the west of the country and Hakkari in eastern Turkey, and that the two demonstrations meet in the capital, Ankara.
