Fürstenfeldbruck has a traffic problem, and not just since yesterday. With a traffic development plan you want to solve the Gordian knot. The guidelines for the further process are now set. But the trade feels let down.

Fürstenfeldbruck - The traffic development plan for Fürstenfeldbruck is an ambitious project that should bring many interests under one roof. How difficult this is is now being shown shortly before the planned date for a second mobility workshop, which is scheduled for June 22nd. Within this framework, guidelines are to be presented that were developed in various working groups. But before these guiding principles were presented to the public, criticism came from the trade association. The chairman of the association and CSU City Councilor Franz Höfelsauer complained that the proposals to solve the traffic situation were not sustainable enough and in some cases even counterproductive.

The development of the traffic development plan was initiated last year. First, with an analysis of the current state. Because the situation should improve for everyone: for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. The results of the analysis were presented to the citizens at a first mobility workshop. In addition, they could express their visions. In turn, these suggestions were taken up by a working group, which also includes representatives of the advisory boards and the trade association.

First step: Ten guidelines have been developed

Ten guidelines were developed at several meetings, reports Monserrat Miramontes, responsible for traffic planning and mobility management in the town hall. "We try to take all needs into account."

For example, local public transport should become better and more sustainable. You want to do more for cyclists and pedestrians. "City of short distances" - that is a credo. In addition, one wants to plan together with the neighboring municipalities. And the situation for stationary vehicle traffic - i.e. parking spaces - should also be more bearable.

Trade association: Plans come at the expense of the trade

For Höfelsauer, however, the results of the process so far read differently. "This gives the impression that pedestrian and bicycle traffic is increasingly coming to the fore at the expense of business," he criticizes. He refers to authorities and service providers as well as many shops in the center that customers from the region are dependent on. Many would have difficulties in securing their livelihood.

He is afraid, says Höfelsauer, that the city center will no longer be approached and the shops in the center will bleed out if more parking spaces are no longer available, for example at the northern cattle market square. The problem had to be solved with an underground car park. "We from the trade association do not block ourselves against safe walking and cycling paths. But we can't just keep pushing the car out of the city center. ”

Next step: renewed public participation

Monserrat Miramontes cannot understand the criticism. "Representatives of the trade association and business advisory board are also in the working group," says the traffic planner. Especially since no measures have yet been determined.

The ten key objectives are to be presented to the citizens at the mobility workshop on June 22nd - if Corona allows it. The working group takes the suggestions that come from the population with it. Another workshop is planned for autumn as part of the European Mobility Week and another workshop with neighboring municipalities. After that, the individual measures should become more specific. If everything goes according to plan, the traffic development plan could be in spring 2021.

Trade association: Third amper crossing plus tunnel is the only solution

The B2 is a major problem in traffic issues. Because it provides traffic jam and through traffic in the city. Franz Höfelsauer, the head of the trade association, sees the only feasible solution to reduce heavy through traffic in a third amper crossing plus a tunnel. The relocation of the B2 also calls for the CSU city council to which he belongs. "Otherwise, the traffic will only be shifted to other roads." This will not solve the problem.

"We from the trade association advocate a reasonable coexistence of everyone, pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and cars," says Höfelsauer. This is the only way to arrive at a sensible solution that ultimately takes everyone's interests into account. "Perhaps politicians will one day be able to include the only sensible solution, a tunnel, in the upcoming federal transport infrastructure plan."
