School facing the health crisis: parenthesis or turning point?

ANALYSIS - As of June 22, school will again be compulsory for everyone. But the school year was indeed cut by three months.


Jules Ferry's free and compulsory republican school took a hit. By decreeing, because of the health crisis, "volunteering" for families with children attending public school, the executive has raised questions, sometimes cruel, about the mission of the school. The poorest families were the most reluctant to return their children to school. And among the "black hussars of the Republic", some have disappeared from radar, much to the chagrin of the parents. The business community and families became impatient with a strict health protocol, which, during the deconfinement, limited the reception of pupils to 15 per class. To justify the gradual return to school on May 11, the government first brandished social inequalities, before putting forward economic reason every day a little more.
