The sports halls in Bavaria were allowed to reopen on June 8th. The situation is different in the Weilheim-Schongau district. The decision meets with different reactions from the TSVs.

District - For Norbert Merk, treasurer of the Weilheim-Schongau district, there are several reasons that speak against the opening of a sports hall at the present time. "Many halls are required for final exams and cannot be used for sports at the moment," explains Merk. Events are also moved to the sports halls in order to be able to keep the distances better. Teacher conferences where all teachers have to be present, for example. "Nothing will change in the next few weeks," said Merk.

And then the summer holidays will soon begin, in which the halls will always be anyway to be able to carry out revision work. "All in all, the halls could only be used by athletes for two or three weeks until September."

Sports hall opening in the district: hygiene concept to be approved by the health department

In addition, there are numerous regulations for hall use and a hygiene concept still needs to be worked out, which is also to be approved by the health authority, according to Merk.

Only at the end of the summer vacation should the district's own halls, including the vocational school gymnasiums or the Jahnhalle in Weilheim, reopen. The district office also discussed the decision with the mayors from the five largest municipalities in the district (Weilheim, Penzberg, Schongau, Peiting and Peißenberg). "We suggested that a uniform solution be found so that it is understandable for all citizens," explains Merk. The hygiene concept can also be worked out together "and not everyone has to muddle around". Ultimately, however, each operator decides whether and when to open it again. Since June 8th, training in halls in Bavaria has actually been allowed again.

Peißenberg and Schongau are considering opening the sports hall earlier

While all municipalities initially approved the opening from September, some are now considering opening earlier. Also because their TSVs are campaigning for an earlier start.

For example, Peißenberg supports the desire to go back into the hall. The health department has a hygiene concept. If there are no objections, you can train indoors again.

TSV Schongau is committed to opening earlier

In Schongau too, efforts have now been made to "open the city's sports halls as quickly as possible," said Mayor Falk Sluyterman when asked. "It is incredibly important for us that training is allowed again," emphasizes Ralf Konstantin, Chairman of TSV Schongau. In addition, the further closure of the halls is not understandable for him if training takes place in other Bavarian locations.

That is why they sought to talk to the city and are confident that at least the Lechsporthalle will open earlier. "An exact date cannot yet be given," says Sluyterman. Just like in Peißenberg, the city is currently working on a protection and hygiene concept. "If there are no objections on the part of the health department, nothing stands in the way of an opening."

TSV Schongau switches to its own halls

As long as the city halls are still closed, the club's own halls, i.e. ice rink and fitness room, are used by several departments. "The rooms are not suitable for all sports, but it is better than nothing," said Konstantin. Also, because enough time has to be planned between training sessions, for example to ventilate the hall, the halls will be very busy in the near future.

All outdoor facilities can be used again for training

The outdoor facilities in the district have been allowed to be used again since June 8th - be they rural or municipal. However, certain hygiene rules must be observed. This includes keeping changing rooms and showers, training a maximum of 20 athletes and keeping a distance.

TSV Weilheim: Athletes train more outdoors

TSV Weilheim is now making increasing use of the opportunity to train outside. "Even typical indoor sports like taekwondo and fencing want to train outside," said TSV board member Dieter flush. "The closing of the hall does not make us happy, but it is also difficult to guarantee that everyone will adhere to the comprehensive rules." By the end of August, alternatives could be arranged.

"We have agreed that defined training groups, which play basketball or handball, for example, in a performance-oriented manner, are allowed to go back into the halls from September 1 to prepare for the season," says flush. At least if the corona numbers continue to develop so positively.

Peiting has opened ice rink

In Peiting there is also more training outside. According to TSV board member Günther Neureuther, this is not a problem. "All departments can also go to the ice rink by arrangement." According to Stefan Kort, branch manager in the Peitingen town hall, it was reopened because it "seemed less critical." The size of the hall makes it easier to ensure adequate ventilation. ”The other sports facilities are to remain until the end of August for reasons similar to those of the district. "But there will be another conversation with the mayor in this regard," said Neureuther.

TSV Penzberg: ventilation of the halls as the biggest problem

In Penzberg too, training is currently only done outdoors. “It's going very well. We are now using summer, ”says TSV board member Michaela Schott. The TSV Penzberg has developed its own hygiene concept for all sports. For example, that everyone needs their own ball. In addition, everyone must register beforehand before they can start training.

It was no surprise to Michaela Schott that the halls were not yet opening. She sees the biggest problem with the ventilation of the halls. "Often that is not feasible." As chairwoman, she wouldn't have a good feeling if training in the hall started again. Therefore, she was also very surprised at the demands of TSV Peißenberg.
