The next Oscar ceremony has been postponed for two months due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now scheduled for April 25, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Monday.

The 93rd edition of the Oscars was initially scheduled to take place on February 28, but the Covid-19 epidemic caused cinemas to close and disrupted the schedule for Hollywood productions. The Academy has therefore also extended the release period for Oscar-eligible films from December 31, 2020 to February 28, 2021.
She hopes to " give filmmakers the flexibility to finish and release their films without being penalized, " say officials of the Academy in a statement.
