Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Verchinin discussed with the Syrian ambassador to Moscow Dr. Riyad Haddad the prospects of a political settlement to the crisis in Syria and the need to combat terrorism.
A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said today, "Vershinin discussed with mourning the prospects for moving forward with the political process that the Syrians are running and implementing themselves on the basis of respecting the country's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity."
The statement pointed out that the two sides also discussed the negative impact of the unilateral, coercive US measures imposed on Syria.
