Aged 66, the former priest "will be welcomed in a religious congregation far from Cantal with strict judicial control, ban on leaving and obligation to care," detailed the prosecutor of Clerrmont-Ferrand, Eric Maillaud. “We had to wait until we had a place of accommodation. The release order was made this (Tuesday) morning "by the investigating judge, said his lawyer Me Frédéric Franck, confirming information from the daily La Montagne .

A first request had been refused in the fall of 2019 by the investigative chamber of the Riom Court of Appeal (Puy-de-Dôme). Detained at the Aurillac remand center, the man should be released no later than Wednesday, according to his lawyer.

This former priest was indicted and remanded in September 2018 for sexual assaults on four children of the same siblings, then aged 13 to 17 years old. He has since been charged also with rape on one of them, after the testimony of this victim, according to his lawyer. The investigation continues.
