Regardless of the Corona crisis, the district is awarding an economic prize again this year - and the crisis was immediately incorporated into the topic.
Landkreis - Economic development company gwt, Landkreis, IHK and others cannot be slowed down by the corona virus: An economic prize will also be awarded this year. The topic covers the two main topics, the corona pandemic and climate protection. Registration closes on July 8th.
Long before the lockdown, the organizers had been thinking about the annual topic and had agreed on sustainability. Then the virus came and everything was different. "Not every topic fits into this time," explains Annette von Nordeck from gwt. So you combined the desired with the imposed topic: “Crisis as an opportunity - what is left of Corona? Dare to be more sustainable ”is now the guideline of the 2020 business award. At its core is ecological crisis management under the pressure of the pandemic. But the focus is on ecology. It is about experiences from the crisis that lead to a new, sustainable strategy in companies - it is about video conferencing instead of business trips as well as home office, innovative presentations as a replacement for a trade fair or new models for internal and external communication. One factor will also be how the new strategies affect profitability, and thus lead to sales. The organizers are concerned not only with the presentation of ideas, but also with more optimism.
Corona will pass away, "but we also have to take care of the earth afterwards," says von Nordeck. "Corona is a catalyst", says IHK committee chair Martin Eickelschulte, what he feels in his own company - he has bought an e-scooter for short distances, and climate protection ideas are collected in the company. Ecology in the form of electric cars, for example, must also be affordable, he says - but it is also cheaper. That is what the business award should show.
Companies of all sizes can participate
Companies of all sizes and legal forms can participate as long as they are based in the district of Starnberg. Suggestions - by the company itself or others - are to be sent to wirtschaftspreis@starnbergammersee.de by July 8th. A smaller jury this year will review the reviews and visit some companies.
