The Indian army announced on Tuesday that it had lost 20 soldiers in a confrontation with the Chinese army on the disputed border in Ladakh, in the north of India, the first deadly military clash in 45 years between the two Asian nuclear powers.

India had said during the day that it had lost three soldiers on Monday, but announced in a statement Tuesday evening that 17 other " seriously wounded on the field of honor (...) had died of their injuries, bringing the total number of deaths to fight at 20 ".
