A group of walkers paddling on the Loire discovered a German bomb of one ton dating from the Second World War, not far from Orleans, AFP learned Tuesday from the prefecture of Loiret.

" Walkers who paddled saw this mass underwater and took photos, " said Muriel Plotton, of protection and civil defense of the prefecture of Loiret, confirming information from France bleu Center. -Loire valley.
Immediately notified, the prefectural services alerted the Versailles demining center on Saturday, which sent a team to carry out a diagnosis of the bomb, located underwater, in the commune of Saint-Ay. It is a German bomb from 1942/44, entirely made of concrete, without priming. A discovery described as “ exceptional ” by the prefecture.
The discovery was favored by the low level of the Loire, very low at this time of the year. The bomb poses no danger, the date of extraction has not yet been set, according to the same source.
