Today a mass and funeral was held for the comfort of the same triangle, the Mercy, Archbishop Marcio Philos Philip Barakat, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Al-Nabek and its accessories for the Syriac Catholics, in the Church of Our Lady of Deliverance to the Syriac Catholics in the village of Zaidel in the eastern countryside of Homs.
The Mass was chaired by Patriarch Mar Ignatius Joseph III Jonah, Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, where he affirmed that the late Archbishop enjoyed high qualities and morals and was distinguished by his service and tireless work in serving his country and his good management and management as he poured his efforts on working with new vital projects to enhance life.
Jonah stressed the commitment of the people of Syria to all its components on its land and its determination to defend it and stand in the face of the conspiracy that targeted its homeland, praying to God to protect Syria as a people, army and leadership.
During his participation in the mass and the funeral, the papal ambassador in Damascus, Mario Zinari, offered condolences to Bishop Barakat in the name of His Holiness Pope Vatican Francis and on behalf of the President of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches.
The papal ambassador said: "I have been living in Syria for 11 years as a representative of the Vatican State and His Holiness with a loving heart for Syria and for the Syrian people, and our heart has always been our connections to Syria," noting that he "lives with great pain and suffering the difficult situation in Syria, especially the economic blockade imposed on it."
The Mass was attended by His Holiness, Patriarch Mar Ignatius Avram II, Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the Levant, the Supreme President of the Syriac Orthodox Church in the world, Patriarch Mar Youssef Al-Absi, Patriarch of Antioch, and the whole East of the Roman Catholic monarchs, heads and representatives of the Christian denominations in Homs, a crowd of people and a number of Islamic scholars.
It is noteworthy that the late born in Zidle, 1952, and His Holiness, Pope Francis, proved his election as Bishop of the Archdiocese of the Diocese of Homs, Hama, Nabek and its dependencies for the Syriac Catholics in April 2016, after the Synod of Bishops of the Syriac Catholic Antioch Church had elected him to this position.
