Municipal in Paris: Anne Hidalgo always looks greener

2020-06-17T23:43:44.495Z

Candidate for his succession in the capital, the mayor (PS) multiplies the announcements intended to reduce the presence of the car in the city

All greener than each other the candidates for mayor of Paris? Almost! In any case, the three top names, Agnès Buzyn (LREM), Rachida Dati (LR) and Anne Hidalgo (PS) all seem to have learned from the coronavirus health crisis. Before the first round on March 15, safety and cleanliness issues were debated at length between the adversaries. Now, the new priorities seem to have more to do with the number of kilometers of cycle paths, square meters of planted greenery and, more broadly, the fight against pollution. The Covid-19 epidemic and its consequences have been there.

Last illustration of this greening of the campaign: the "Manifesto", resulting from the sealed alliance between Anne Hidalgo and the ecologists for the second round of June 28. Unveiled this Tuesday June 16 in the morning, it details how the elected socialist and the candidates of the list "Paris in Common" intend to transform the city in depth. “The health crisis and the climate crisis are closely linked; they force us to go further and further in the proposals to change Paris ”, insists the elected Europe Ecology - the Greens (EELV), ex-candidate for mayor of Paris, David Belliard.

Urban forests and "coronapists"

Generalization of the speed of circulation to 30 km / h in all Paris, peripheral transformed into urban boulevard with a limitation to 50 km / h… so many projects again put forward by the team gathered around Anne Hidalgo. The outgoing mayor, who has always praised his ecological balance (pedestrianization of the ways on bank, realization of 300 km of cycle tracks…), undoubtedly hopes with this "Manifesto" to appear as the only ecological candidate still in the running at the Town Hall.

In addition to the road traffic objectives, there are the “urban forest” projects on the Place du Trocadéro or on the side of the square in front of the Town Hall, which have given rise to debate, as well as the “coronapists”, tracks designed to encourage practice. of the bicycle and unclog transport during deconfinement, and called to be perpetuated for the most part.

“There is clearly a desire on the part of Anne Hidalgo to recolor her program in green after having done very little during her term on planting and the fight against noise. As for the generalization of 30 km / h throughout Paris, the mayor had already announced it for 2020! Tackle Gaspard Gantzer, LREM candidate in the 6th district and close to Agnes Buzyn.

More green too at Buzyn and Dati

Green is however also in fashion in the LREM team. Agnès Buzyn announces that she wants to invest no longer 4 billion but 5 billion euros in the ecological transition of Paris. And it communicates more about its project to create 240 garden streets and the development of a park in place of the ZAC (concerted development zone) and the Bercy-Charenton towers, voted by the team of Anne Hidalgo at the Paris Council.

Even on the side of Rachida Dat i, the team admits having reworked the program of candidate LR to adapt it to the Covid crisis. But the mayor of the 7th refuses to reorient his priorities. "Unlike other candidates, I am not overbidding on communication on the ecology to try to make people forget everything else: Paris is dirty, Paris is not safe, the social park is degraded, families are more and more people leave the capital every year, ”insists Rachida Dati. And to conclude: “Personally, I don't understand how one can speak of ecology in such an unhealthy environment. For me, cleanliness is also a question of ecology. "

The three candidates will have the opportunity to compare their projects this Wednesday, June 17 during a first debate organized by France 3 at 6 p.m.
