Turkey vigorously rejected on Tuesday France's criticisms of its role in Libya, which illustrate, according to Ankara, the "obscure and inexplicable" French policy in this country. "The support that France provided to the putschist and rogue Haftar, who seeks to impose an authoritarian regime by overthrowing the legitimate government and who openly announced that he did not want a political solution, has exacerbated the crisis in Libya" , said the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "It is unacceptable that a NATO ally behaves this way."

According to a source at the Elysee Palace, France wants the member countries of NATO, to which Turkey belongs, to discuss the increasingly "aggressive" role of Ankara in Libya. Discussions between NATO defense ministers are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
