The mandatory quarantine due to the coronavirus does not exempt women from the gender problems they experience on a daily basis. On the contrary, isolation seems to be an ideal setting for abusers who take advantage of unpopulated streets to follow their victims and commit crime without anyone seeing them.
However, it seems that in Vicente López the aggressors are a little more guarded and do not have the luck to go unpunished: in the town of Villa Martelli, a woman reported having been abused on public roads and her attacker was immediately arrested .
Everything was recorded by the municipal security cameras. On Wednesday at 15:30 the neighbor began to be chased by a man near the intersection of San Martín and Franklin streets . Upon realizing it, he increased the speed of his walk with the aim of losing him, but the aggressor managed to reach her, grope her and flee.
Arrested. The accused of sexual abuse is brought to justice.
However, the victim's attempt to get away from him quickly was not in vain. Thanks to her courage, she arrived at one of the "Safe Points" -security totems that are distributed on the streets throughout the district- where she was assisted by an operator who warned the community patrols.
After asking for help, the woman began to walk so as not to stay in the place and was caught by police officers who restrained her and accompanied her to make the formal complaint. At the same time, other troops were in charge of locating the man through security cameras, who were quickly located with the help of the neighbor who provided an accurate description of the young man.

Minutes later, the abuser was intercepted a few blocks from the scene -he was moving down Calle Roca in the direction of the Avenida de los Constituyentes- and taken to the 4th station of Villa Martelli where he is currently at the disposal of justice after be accused of sexual abuse.

In this context, it should be noted that the General Directorate for Gender and Sexual Diversity of Vicente López continues to operate and provide assistance to victims of violence during quarantine. Since the beginning of the confinement, they have already attended more than 115 inquiries through 4794-6604 / 05.
To make complaints, victims can contact the Women's Police Station (4711-7887), call 144 24 hours or contact the nearest police station. Likewise, the district has enabled line 109: the Vicente López patrol that has a Gender Violence Unit for emergencies and urgencies.
