The ordeal of George Floyd, this African-American dying for eight minutes and forty-six seconds under the knee of a white policeman, shook the whole world and aroused an unprecedented wave of indignation. His martyrdom crossed the ocean to import into France a problem that some would like to compare by comparing this dramatic Minneapolis case with that of Adama Traore, this young man of 24 years, originally from the Boyenval district, in Beaumont-sur -Oise, and died in July 2016 after his arrest by the gendarmes.
For four years, the Truth for Adama committee, through the voice of Assa Traore, his sister, has constantly designated the gendarmes as racists and responsible for the young man's death. Having become the standard bearer of the mobilization against police violence, the committee organized demonstrations in Paris on June 2 and 13 and wants to echo the American movement Black Lives Matter in France.
