A Shiite preacher called on believers to kill a feminist activist because she struggled to allow women to ride a bicycle • "Damn woman should be punished for apostasy"

A Shiite preacher called on believers to murder Mizih Alinjad, an Iranian human rights activist who fled the country for her support of women's cycling in Iran, where the law prohibits it.

The man expressed anger at Alinjad's remarks after referring to the fact that Shi'ite and Zahra and Zahara saints were riding camels and said it was no different from cycling.

"She speaks heresy about the holy mothers. The damned woman must be punished as an unbeliever," says the unpublished preacher during a sermon delivered at a mosque in Iran.

"If there is no way to kill and silence her, make sure you live in fear and underground like Salman Rushdie the heretic," said the preacher, referring to the award-winning author, author of "The Devil's Verses," Salman Rushdie.

In 2016, Iran's Supreme Ruler issued Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Patva (a decree) saying that women should not be allowed to ride and face in public. The order was enforced in various places in Iran. Recently, a number of women in the state have uploaded videos showing them ripping their faces and faces in defiance of the authorities.
